Daniel Navarro, 9th overall in Tour de France 2013, will race in the French grand tour once again in 2014. Natrually, this race will be his main goal next year, as the Spanish rider tells ElComercio.es.
The Cofidis leader chooses a similar schedule to his 2013 one. His debut in 2014 will be at Vuelta a Andalucia, in which he got a 10th overall this year. Then he'll race Vuelta a Murcia, Clasica de Almeria, Paris-Nice and then Volta a Catalunya, exactly the same schedule as this year. Vuelta a Murcia, which he won in 2013, is a "a special race because I got a very special win." He beat two strong riders in Valverde(Movistar) and Mollema(Belkin) in the uphill finish of the race.
After that, he might choose to attend the Vuelta al Pais Vasco, although it's not confirmed yet. And for the preperation of the Tour, Navarro will race again in Criterium du Dauphine. The Spanish rider is 5th this year in this race, although he did cheat a little by following the wheel of Hagen(Sky) in the ITT.
Navarro spent his earlier career mostly as a domestique for two-time TDF winner Contador(Tinkoff-Saxo). He only got his own chance after 2012 season, as he chose to transfer to the Cofidis team. With Taaramae and Coppel disappointing, the Spanish rider became the undisputed leader of the Frrench-based team. He hopes he'll improve his 9th overall result this year.
