Manuel Belletti faced the threat of possibly having to end his career prematurely. Now he has signed a contract with Neri Sottoli where he is expected to be one of the lead sprinters.
In 2015, Manuel Belletti will be riding in the colours of Neri Sottoli. The Italian was without a team for the coming season but at the last moment he has signed a deal with Luca Scinto and Angelo Citracca who have been very active in the transfer market. The fast sprinter who a stage of the Tour du Limousin this year but the biggest win on his palmares is his stage vicotry at the 2010 Giro d'Italia.
Belletti is expected to strengthen Neri Sottoli in the sprints after the team decided not to renew the contract with lead sprinter Francesco Chicchi. In previous weeks, the team has announced the signings of Matteo Busato , Eugert Zhupa , Jakub Mareczko , Eliah Favilli ,Luca Wackermann and Francesco Gavazzi. The team is reportedly close to signing a contract with Alessandro Petacchi.
Belletti rose to fame when he won his Giro stage while riding for the Bardiani team. He spent two years at the WorldTour with Ag2r from 2012 to 2013 where he won a stage of the Route du Sud. In 2014, he rode for Androni-Venezuela but despite his win in Limousin, the team decided not to renew his contract.
