Two days ago Antonio Pedrero signed two-year contract with the Movistar team. The contract with a WorldTour team is the award of a brilliant career in the amateur category and record.

"I'm starting to believe it. This morning when I woke up, I realized that it was not a dream and sometimes dreams are fulfilled. Until yesterday I was preparingto start next season with Inteja MMR, intending to show that I have a place in the professional field," he says in a press release from KEC Sport.

Although his younger teammates at Lizarte had taken the step to the top level, Pedrero claims that he "never lost hope."

"It's true that sometimes I wondered why it was them and not me, but I was always happy for them. For me it was an incentive to keep working and keep hope," he says.

After Dayer Quintana, Marc Soler and Jorge Arcas, Pedrero joins Movistar to finalise the roster of the team led by Eusebio Unzue.

"The truth is that many good Lizarte riders are moving up. And I do not think it's by chance. It is a team that does things well and knows how to bring their riders forward. The trust and support that Manolo Azcona has had in me during these years has been vital in my career," he says.

He enjoyed his brief time with the Inteja MMR continental team

"It was a great experience. Actually I did not expect such ethos of the Dominican team. I felt very good with them and I am very grateful to Diego Milan for giving me the opportunity to have this experience."

Regarding his role with Movistar, he expects to be "useful for the team and not to abuse the trust Eusebio has placed in me."

"At the moment I hope to adapt to the category and fit into the team. I have the desire and will work hard," he concludes.
