NIPPO - Vini Fantini is ready for the second season in the pro ranks. The Italian-Japanese team has outlined its plans for 2016.
"As a minimum, we want the same number of victories as this year and have more success in Europe,” manager Francesco Pelosi told La Gazzetta dello Sport. The team will make its debut in Argentina at the Tour de San Luis where new signing Grega Bole will wear his new jersey for the first time. The Slovenian is one of the main reinforcements and Pelosi has a clear plan for his rider. "After Argentina Bole can do fast races in Spain and some in Belgium too. Who knows? [New signing Gianfranco] Zilioli has to be ready for the warmer months which he prefers.”
The captain of the team will again be Damiano Cunego, whose debut is likely to be in Italy.
"Cunego should start at the GP Costal degli Etruschi or the Vuelta Comunitat a la Valenciana . If we are invited to the Giro, the goal for Cunego is to go for stages and interpret the race as an attacker.
"In terms of motivation, the victories in Japan and China have been a major factor for the return of Daniele Colli. He will ride Langkawi and other races in the East.”
Pelosi also announced that Bole will be joined by fellow sprinters Pierpaolo De Negri, Eduard Grosu and Nicolas Marini in the Tour de San Luis. The team will be completed by Antonio Nibali and Genki Yamamoto.
