He had to wait for one year and ten days to get anothe victory. Those were hard times for Sven Nys. Today he ended the negative streak at the GP Hasselt. "I'm as happy as a guy of 20 years," he told Het Nieuwsblad.
"I'm incredibly happy. When you feel that you have been on the decline during the last year and then wins another race today, it makes you happy. I've worked hard this summer to win another race. At 39 years of age, I still enjoy it tremendously," the Cannibal added.
The way in which he wook the victory, was impressive.
"Today I have certainly not received a gift from Pauwels and Meeusen. I tried to ride in front as much as possible and this tactic has paid off. Tomorrow I will probably not be at my best in Koksijde, but these flowers will keep me happy for much longer," the veteran concluded.
