With no climber on their roster, Orica-GreenEDGE have tried to save as much energy as possible in the last few mountain stages. The team has big plans for the final three stages where they hope to take the elusive stage victory.

ORICA-GreenEDGE have completed the final mountain stage of the 2014 Tour de France finishing safely amongst the gruppetto on stage 18 this afternoon.

Much like the previous stage, it was a quiet day on the road for the team as they looked to conserve as much energy as possible in the mountains ahead of their final objectives over the last few days of the Tour.

Vincenzo Nibali (AST) won his fourth stage and further increased his strangle hold on the yellow jersey.

“Everyone has got through the hardest part of the Tour de France now,” sport director Matt White said.

“It’s a big relief, especially for a couple of our debutants and now we can focus on the last three days.

“We have got some ambitions in these last three days.

“Tomorrow can be a good stage for a breakaway, it’s not a flat flat finish. And then the time trial is the big objective of Durbo (Luke Durbridge) and Svein (Tuft) before we go onto Paris.

“For big guys, Durbridge and Tuft have got over these tough last couple of stages strongly, they haven’t had to extend themselves too much and it’s a good sign coming into the time trial.”
