Orica-GreenEDGE have certainly got one of the best teams for Amstel Gold, captained by two on form leaders Simon Gerrans and Michael Matthews.
"I'm super-excited - not too many teams, if any, have the capabilities of having two options so deep in the (race), it doesn't get any better. We have a plan - it's a long and it's a pretty sketchy day. A lot of crashes and position is quite crucial, so we'll split them up during the day. I will talk to them in person on the weekend about what we want them to do in the last couple of kilometres. (A win) would be massive regardless, but especially coming off Paris-Roubaix," Orica-GreenEDGE DS Matt White told SBS Cycling Central.
Matthews is perhaps the rider who the course in Holland suits the best. Gerrans is outright leader for the biggest race of the trio of Ardennes events, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, while Swiss star Michael Albasini gets the honours for Fleche Wallonne in midweek.
