According to Cyclingnews.com, Juan Jose Oroz and Pablo Utrasun, two among several Euskaltel – Euskadi riders left jobless after the demise of the Basque squad, should join a new Chilean project on a UCI Pro Continental license for 2014 season.

 

PinoRoad should become the first Chilean Pro Continental team with a certain ambitions to compete internationally, while the main objective remains developing young promising riders originating from their home country. Thus, Oroz and Utrasun alongside two other riders from Europe: Mike Bizkarra from Fundación Euskadi and Salvador Guardiola from Differdange CT, are brought to the team in order to play the role of a mentors on and off the road, to less experienced cyclists.

 

Being pro since 2005, Urtasun has been at Euskaltel-Euskadi for five years. With two appearances at each of the three grand tours, he will be one of the more experienced riders at the new team. This year, he won a stage in Vuelta a Castilla y León and he finished second in Klasika Primavera and last year he won a stage in Tour of Britain. The Spaniard became pro with Kaiku (2005-2006) and then he drove at Liberty (2007-2008), before starting his 5-year stay at Euskaltel (2009-2013).

 

The roster of the new team is now finished. It contains of four Spaniards and nine Chilean riders, most of them under 23, among which Luis Mansilla should be considered the most experienced one with two stage wins at 2012 Vuelta de Chile and participation in omnium during Olympic Games in London. The latter are: Pablo Alarcón, Adrián Alvarado, Edison Bravo, Wolfgang ‘Lobo’ Burmann, Pedro Palma, Pablo Seisdedos, Elías Tello and Christopher Mansilla.

 

As said, the team is based in Murcia and will compete in Europe, most of the time in Spain, France and Portugal.
