Stefano Pirazzi was among the best also in the last stage of the Giro del Trentino.

In a final stage less demanding than the previous two, the climber from Fiuggi attacked with 5km to go on the last lap of the finishing circuit. The attack gave him the 9th position 49 seconds behind stage winner Paolo Tiralongo (Astana) who was part of a decisive break of seven riders that pulled away on the last climb of Passo Predaia after several attacks. One of them included Bardiani's Simone Sterbini just after the official start and another one saw Manuel Bongiorno take off on the first climb of the day.

The main group with 50 riders crossed the finish line in wake of Pirazzi, with Edoardo Zardini safely in the first part to secur 10th in the final general classification, won by Richie Porte.

”The goal of my late attack was to gain some seconds and move into the top 10," Pirazzi said. "Unfortunately after a good move, the peloton chased fast and caught us on the finish line. However, I can be satisfied with my performance in this stage race. I came here to improve my shape and I did it really well. Now I’ll try to achieve a new good result at the Giro dell’Appennino on Sunday."

"The guys raced really well today too," manager Roberto Reverberi said. "The only regret is for Chirico who narrowly missed out on joining the decisive break. With his good sprint he could have achieved a great result. Thinking about the whole Giro del Trentino, I am happy with the team’s performance and the right attitude showed every day. Especially our climbers are on the right way to be at the top for the Giro d’Italia."
