"For Giampaolo this is not bad. This is his first race after his terrible crash in the Giro d'Italia. This is good for his morale. The team worked well for him today," Cozzi says

Having crashed out of the Giro d'Italia, Giampaolo Caruso is back in competition at the Tour of Austria. Yesterday the Italian showed that he is already back in solid condition when he finished 24th in the queen stage.

Despite still struggling with pain in the back after a crash in Stage 1 of the Tour of Austria, Dmitry Kozontchuk showed a lot of character by going in the break. Together with nine other riders they managed to stay in the front until 6 kilometers from the finish on the step Kitzbühler Horn. Before the breakaway got away Maxim Belkov tried again, like in the last two days, but this time the peloton did not let Maxim go.

Maxim Belkov, however, still leads the Mountains Classification after Stage 3. The best Katusha rider in the stage was Giampaolo Caruso, finishing 24th.

"For Giampaolo this is not bad. This is his first race after his terrible crash in the Giro d'Italia. This is good for his morale. The team worked well for him today. I can be happy about the team's performance. They are all professional and motivated. Tomorrow there is a chance that a sprint will decide on the victory. In that case we will play Marco Haller's card," said Team Director Claudio Cozzi.

The victory on the Kitzbühler Horn was for Dayer Quintana (Movistar). The younger brother of Giro winner Nairo won his first race as a pro rider. Damiano Caruso (Cannondale) and yellow jersey Peter Kennaugh (Sky) finished at 54 seconds. Kennaugh retains his yellow leader's jersey.
