Urbano Cairo wants to make the most of the Giro d’Italia in 2017 . Since his appointment as President of owners RCS MediaGroup, the Italian entrepreneur jas stressed that his goal is to do things in style, both from a purely sporting point of view and from a television aspect.
Cairo reiterated those plans yesterday at an award show at Palazzo Reale in Milan.
"I don’t think that the Giro d’Italia was ever inferior to the Tour de France. We will do everything to be a very important event in Italy and abroad,” he said according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
As reported in recent days, the new leader of RCS is exploring new possibilities with regard to television broadcasting. It has been mentioned that he will break up with Italian public broadcaster RAI but that may not be the only novelty.
"This year we want to do something special when it comes to the participants, filming and TV graphics,” he added. “I hope that we can get a good start to the next 100 editions helped by Italy's beauties which make it a unique competition.”
