Keil Reijnen finished first place in the points classification at the USA Pro Challenge for a second consecutive year. The UnitedHealthcare rider is doing a great year. He took the third place at the National Championships and during the Tour of Colorado, he won his first victory in 2015. But no World Tour teams is interested to sign him for 2016.

"Some of that is in my control, and some of it is out of my control," the mechanical engineer said, when asked why heís not racing at the WorldTour level according to Velonews. "Itís a very subjective sport that way. There are only so many teams, and only so many directors. Those directors get an idea in their head of what they are looking for, in riders, for each year, and thereís a lot of thought that goes into that. Thereís definitely a lot of pressure on them to put together a team. Ö Itís not easy. In the defense of the many directors out there, they donít know who is going to get injured, how one rider is going to get along with another rider, thereís so many dynamics on the road, and at races. Itís a tough job."

His age is one of the factor according to the rider. "Part of it is because I havenít gotten the right offer, and part of that is because I love what I do here. Iím not so enchanted with the idea of living and racing in Europe. I know what that takes. Iíve seen a lot of guys do it, for better and for worse. Itís not me, by default. But Iím sure I could make it work, for the right situation."

Reijnen thinks also about the Olympics. But in order to be present at this event, he has to do a great performance at the Worlds, in Richmond or get a major result at a World Tour race. "There are some goals I have yet to accomplish. Iíd really like to make the Olympic team, and thatís hard if youíre not doing a grand tour. But I also have a lot of faith in this program. Iím not typical in the sense that my one and only goal is to make a WorldTour team."

But he added he does not want to change the next year. "I love my team. I would do Ö almost anything for the guys on this team. They have a lot of faith in me, and I have a lot of faith in them. I love the program, and having that mutual faith is really important to me. If I was just floating on a team, I wouldnít be happy, and I wouldnít be performing, if I didnít have that ëBand of Brothersí feeling. Thatís what is really important to me. And itís not just riders, itís staff, itís everybody, management. Iíve found that at UHC, and Iíve thrived with it. Itís made a big difference for me. So Iím not quick to leave them."
