Joaquim Rodriguez is hitting the roads for the first time since his attempt for the KOM shirt in the Tour de France. The Russian Team Katusha is going to the Basque Country with a very strong team for such kind of one day race.
Besides Rodriguez, the former winner of Fleche Wallonne and Giro di Lombardia, Katusha is also going to Spain with Dani Moreno, who also has won the Fleche Wallonne in his career. The two Spaniards must be counted as a strong card for the home soil race.
To help the two Spaniards the team has chosen Alexander Kolobnev, winner of a stage in Paris-Nice, Yuri Trofimov, winner of a stage in Criterium Dauphine and Vladimir Gusev as strong helpers.
Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian will be held in Spain tomorrow on August 2nd. Katusha didn’t get a rider in the top 10 in last year’s edition of the race, which was won by Frenchman Tony Gallopin.
The team’s squad for the race is:
Vladimir Gusev, Alexander Kolobnev, Dmitriy Kozonchuk, Aliaksandr Kuchynski, Alberto Losada, Daniel Moreno, Joaquim Rodriguez and Yuri Trofimov.
