Pierre Rolland (Europcar) is the new leader of the Volta a Catalunya and he expects the Catalan race to be decided tomorrow on the climb to the ski resort of La Molina.
Rolland did well to limit the losses compared to the attacks from the favorites in the third stage and took the leader's jersey off the shoulders of Maciej Paterski (CCC Polkowice Sprandi).
"It was a very difficult stage because there were many hard climbs. When the attacks started, I decided not to follow the favorites. The goal was to lose as little time as possible," he said.
Rolland maintained an advantage over the favourites that is close to 2.30 but he now faces the queen stage to La Molina. He noted that tomorrow's final climb doesn't suit him and believes that Alberto Contador (Team Saxo Bank-SunGard), Rigoberto Uran (Etixx-Quick Step), Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) and Chris Froome (Sky) are the favorites to fight for the victory.
"The best riders are here. They will dictate the stage."
