"If a team fights against doping, it's us. We have nothing to do with the criminal behavior of the two dopers. In fact, two riders will receive a statement next week with the days that the proceedings will be."

Gianni Savio will continue to lead Androni-Sidermec. Despite the difficulties, the Italian manager is always optimistic. With a finalized 2016 roster, he is convinced that his team will be selected for the Giro d'Italia and advocates a strong stand against doping.

Savio has already signed 15 riders for next season. And there is only room for one more. The roster will have 16 riders. "We haven't thought about a Spanish rider. I have to adjust my budget. Unlike other teams, I do not sign the riders before I have the money to pay them," he told BiciCiclismo. "This year I did a miracle by saving the team without the money from the second sponsor, Venezuela. Now I am in the process of paying that money because I had to get it from Venezuela."

The new faces of the 2016 Androni team are Rodolfo Torres (Team Colombia), Arley Egan Bernal, Luca Pacioni, Mirko Selvaggi (Wanty-Gobert), Davide Viganò (Team Idea) and Daniele Ratto (UnitedHealthcare). Franco Pellizotti, Marco Bandiera, Marco Benfatto, Francesco Chicchi, Tiziano Dall'Antonia, Marco Frapporti, Alberto Nardin, Alessio Taliani and Serghei Ţvetcov will stay. "Torres was the climber I needed. He is very good and I also signed a great talent, Egan Bernal, for four years. I always try to get the best with the economic ressources that I have," he said.

The 2015 team was had two positive doping tests: Davide Appollonio for EPO and Fabio Taborre for FG-4592, and the International Cycling Union (UCI) suspended the Italian team from competition for the month of August. Savio defends the honor of Androni. "If a team fights against doping, it's us. We have nothing to do with the criminal behavior of the two dopers. In fact, two riders will receive a statement next week with the days that the proceedings will be. It is the first time in history that a team take legal action against a doped rider. It has never happened," he said. The UCI has recently rejected his appeal to lift the sanction which was already served.

The team is not out of the 2016 Giro d'Italia and Savio believes that he will not lack friends. "I have the confidence to be in the Giro. I do not see why we shouldn't. we were always protagonists," he said.
