The final stage on the Tour of Belgium saw Team Katusha’s Egor Silin take third place on the stage behind winner Greg Van Avermaet (BMC). Second on the stage was Tiesj Benoot of Lotto Soudal. Van Avermaet also took the final overall classification in front of Benoot and Gaetan Bille.
Team Katusha’s Viacheslav Kuznetsov was 8th on GC.
"We tried to play our cards today, so when a group of 24 riders went away we had Eduard Vorganov there, who felt really good. Later when this break was almost caught a new group attacked again with Vorganov and this time also with Egor Silin and Viacheslav Kuznetsov. Everything went ok until the moment Vorganov crashed. It looks like he is ok, but for him the race was over. On the penultimate climb Egor Silin, Van Avermaet and Benoot attacked for the finish and in the end Egor was 3rd. This was a good result for him. Also Kuznetsov was able to take 8th place in GC so we are happy with good work this week," said team director Gennady Mikhaylov.
The final stage on Sunday was 199,2 km in Sankt Vith.
