After being promoted to the pro continental level in 2016, Stölting Service Group has announced to radsport-news that they will withdraw from cycling. The company has decided to focus on football and this will mark the end of the team.
At the end of the 2015 season, a promising and solid alliance between Stölting and co-sponsor CULT Energy was formed. However, the Danish sponsor left at the last moment, leaving Stölting to cover all the costs. A new sponsor was necessary to continue in the second division but by the summer, the German team had indicated that it would not continue for another year at that level.
A relegation to the continental level was planned. However, the departure of many riders and a loss of motivation from the investors eventually forced the sponsors to withdraw completely.
Among the 17 riders in the team, only four are still without a contract for next year, Gerald Ciolek, Linus Gerdemann, Thomas Koep and Christian Mager.
