Third place at the Trofeo Palma (1.1), a third place in a stage of the Tour de Langkawi (2.HC) and a ninth place at a stage of the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe (2.1) made it a very good start to the season for Dylan Page (Roth).
However, the Swiss neo-pro was unable to continue the promising start with more top results. The next top ten result came at the end of October with an eighth place in a stage at the Tour of Hainan (2.HC).
"The best moment of my season was surely the third place in the Mallorca Challenge," Page told radsport-news.com. Page was only beaten by André Greipel and Nacer Bouhanni in the end of January on the Balearic Island. "It was a nice sprint which gave me a lot of self-confidence,” Page commented.
He was not overly disappointed with the fact that he failed to achieve any big results between April and October. "That was not a disappointment, but rather a difficult time. Overall, I am satisfied with my season, even if a victory was missing," Page summarized.
After the surprise withdrawal from Roth from the second division - the team will have a Continental license in the future - Page had to search for a new team again and finally found a home with the Spanish Caja Rural.
"I am very happy with this contract. The team has a good structure and an attractive race calendar. I have shown in the past that I am a fast man and I want to confirm this also in 2017," he said about his goals for the coming season.
