Tao Geoghegan is a promising rider. This season, he finished 15th in the Tour of Britain when he was 19 years old. He also finished 10th in the Tour de l'Avenir. In a interview with Cyclingnews, he chooses his words carefully as he assesses the season.
"The [Tour of Britain] is certainly the one I am really excited to try and return to", he explained. "I also loved California and Utah, the races in America never fail with incredible scenery and again amazing fans. I'd love to line up again at those three races and try to really get stuck in."
Very good in the junior, the British made waves with a podium finish in the Paris-Roubaix in 2013. He followed it up this year with another third place finish in the under 23 version of Liège-Bastogne-Liège. "I'd like to think that I'm quite a versatile rider. I like hilly races and going for the GC but I also really love tougher flat races, whether that be in leadouts for sprinters or on the cobbles. I grew up racing the Belgian kermesse scene and the races there vary immensely. I feel like it is in my nature to give everything a go, I guess."
Now Geoghegan is thinking next season. "For next year I have lots of plans in writing at the minute. The hard work to turn the dreams in to actual results is underway."
