Cofidis have announced that they have signed Dimitri Claeys (Wanty-Groupe Gobert), Guillaume Bonnafond (Ag2r) and Jimmy Turgis (Roubaix).
Dimitri Claeys is the most important addition to the team and will be a significant reinforcement in the cobbled classics. In his only year in the Wanty team, he finished in the top 10 in the Tour of Flanders and recently showed his speed by winning a reduced bunch sprint at the Tour de Wallonie. He will team up with Florian Senechal to lead the team in the hard races in the north.
Guillaume Bonnafond has spent his entire career as a dimestique in the Ag2r team and hasn't had many personal results. He was seventh in the 2012 Tour de l'Ain and has been in the top 10 in the Tour du Limousin twice. He is strong in rolling and moderately hilly terrain where he will be able to assist Daniel Navarro in stage races.
Finally, the team has given Jimmy Turgis a chancen to turn professional. For a few years, the Frenchman has been one of the best riders in the Roubaix team for which he was 11th in the 2016 Paris-Camembert and 16th in the 2016 Tro-Bro Leon. He is strong in hilly and lumpy terrain but is mainly expected to work as a domestique.
The team has also announced that Dorian Godon (Vaulx en Velin) and Mathias Le Turnier (Océane Top 16) will join them as stagiaires for the remainder of the season.
