Tinkoff-Saxo’s squad at Tour of Britain had Kiserlovski and Chris Anker in the decimated main group behind stage winner Petr Vakoc, while Mørkøv came in just behind. Stage 2 offered plenty of action to create a selection in the finale, while Tinkoff-Saxo will seek to tweak several details in order to boost the performance.
After stage 2, Nicki Sørensen, team sports director says:
"We have a bit of mixed feelings about our performance today. We know we have a pretty strong team and despite the fact Chris-Anker, Michael Mørkøv and Robert Kiserlovski were good, we aren't satisfied with the way we were positioned in the race. I think that in the finale we should have been a bit more attentive in the way we rode. We will have to keep fighting in the following stages and we still have Chris-Anker, Michael and Robert up there in the GC. Their place in the GC isn't disappointing but we clearly aim at something better. It's a combination of minor details that need to be tweaked in order to be competitive in the race and I feel positive for the remainder of the race”, comments Nicki Sørensen about the 159km long stage from Clitheroe to Colne.
With a tricky finish coming up Tuesday, Nicki Sørensen notes that the squad will once again try to position Michael Mørkøv in case the stage comes down to a bunch sprint.
“Tomorrow's stage is long as well but not as hard as the first two days. However, there are cobblestone sections 1.5km from the finish and that will make it trickier. If it comes down to a bunch sprint, Michael Mørkøv will be the one to do it and the team will support him towards that goal”, finishes Nicki Sørensen.
