Important recognition for Paolo Tiralongo. The veteran Sicilian is busy these days on the roads of the Tour of Italy but he received the Fair Play Award due to his actions in the stage of Montecassino. 

The Astana rider was involved in the famous fall that has knocked out several athletes, but he waited a few minutes before the start despite the stage being in full swing, to make sure Giampaolo Caruso was attended to after he was badly injured. 

This gesture led the jury consisting of journalists of this special award, organized by the International Panathlon to give him the title. 

A gesture of "exquisite altruism and human solidarity" to Tiralongo, which hopefully will "serve as an example to young people." Said the journalists who decided.
