Armstrong ignored in film.
In the warm-up to the 100th edition of the Tour de France, organizers ASO have produced an impressive and mesmerizing promo commemorating the scenery and glory of past champions, including Bernard Hinault, Laurent Fignon, Fausto Coppi and Eddy Merckx.
But Lance Armstrong, the American who always had a strained relationship with the French public and the organizers and who recently admitted to doping and has subsequently been stripped of the seven titles he won between 1999 and 2005, has been omitted from the video.
The Tour commences in Corsica on June 29, 2013. On its way around the country, it will visit some of France’s most stunning attractions, and many of the Pyrenean and Alpine climbs that have brought the event mythical status, such as L’Alpe d'Huez and Mont Ventoux.
