While Richie Porte looks destined to leave Team Sky for BMC Racing Team in 2016, the British squad are in the hunt with Movistar for Astana climber Mikel Landa, according to Cyclingnews. L’Equipe reports Movistar has offered him 1.5million Euros a year but Sky are still believed to lead the race.
Cyclingnews also say that Michal Kwiatkowski is likely to join the team, despite the world champion’s insisting that he remains where he is at Etixx-QuickStep.
While Porte will leave, out of contract Peter Kennaugh, riding his second Tour de France and current national champion, is set to remain with the team.
Sky are often criticised for not signing enough young riders, but that looks like coming to an end this offseason. Cyclingnews reports that 21 year old Italian U23 champ Gianni Moscon has all but signed with the team, although no one knows if he rides as a stagiaire or as a full time pro or both.
But Alex Peters, 21 and racing for the SEG Racing Development team, and Tao Geoghegan Hart, Axeon Cycling and aged 20, are both set to join the team as stagiaires come August 1. There are strong indications that hart will go pro with Sky in 2016 but there is no news on Peters yet, say Cyclingews.
