Trek-Segafredo will hold talks with Alberto Contador next week as they seek to sign him for the 2017 season.
The team is also speaking with John Degenkolb of Giant-Alpecin while also trying to re-sign their Tour de France Bauke Mollema, as well as Peter Stetina and Giacomo Nizzolo. Of their current 25 man team, only Jasper Stuyven, Julien Bernard, Edward Theuns, Kiel Reijnen and Niccolo Bonifazio have deals for 2017.
“There are a lot of options around, a lot of rumours but it’s complicated by the fact that there are many one-day riders on the market but not that many GC ones,” team manager Luca Guercilena told Cyclingnews.
“We have a blank paper for next year but we don’t need to rush because we have solid sponsors and we know that we can give good opportunities to the riders that join the team.”
