After rumours emerged that Trek Factory Racing were looking to sign Tejay van Garderen, the team has moved to cool these rumours.
Van Garderen has one year left on his BMC contract and with the arrival of Richie Porte, many wonder if he would leave as Porte would want to lead at the Tour de France.
“We believe Tejay van Garderen has a year left on his contract,” a Trek spokesperson told Cycling Weekly today.
BMC’s manager Jim Ochowicz says Porte’s arrival won’t affect Tejay’s Tour ambitions at all. He was on course for a podium before he fell sick and had to abandon the Tour.
CW also understands that BMC were also unsuccessful in a bid to sign promising British youngster Tao Geoghegan Hart, who is set to sign for Team Sky in 2016.
