Luca Paolini's doping case has been referred to the UCI Anti-Doping Tribunal. The committee which was established in January by the UCI to handle future doping cases, will make a decision in relation to the positive test of the Italian on July 7, 2015, during the Tour de France.

The test showed traces of cocaine were found in Paolini's urine. The UCI made announced the news on July 10 and Paolini had to abandon the Tour.

Cocaine can be detected 2-4 days after ingestion. On July 7, the Tour de France been underway for three days. Use of cocaine is not prohibited out of competition but it is included on the doping list. Paolini has denied any wrongdoing but has already offered his apologies.

Paolini's case is the second to be referred to the Anti-Doping Tribunal. Earlier this year Lloyd Mondory was suspended for four years.
