A wet and cold stage at Tirreno-Adriatico Monday ended in a bunch sprint that saw all eight BMC Racing Team riders finishing safe, explained Sport Director Fabio Baldato to the media.
Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo) won the 210-km stage ahead of Gerald Ciolek (Team MTN Qhubeka) and Jens Debusschere (Lotto Soudal).
Sport Director Fabio Baldato said that the BMC Racing Team riders survived well in today's weather conditions. "Because of the rain the roads where not optimal but our riders survived really well and we had everyone in the front."
BMC Racing Team today's Greg Van Avermaet said a lot of riders were suffering from the cold. "Today was a hard day where you hope it will get dryer by the end of the stage but it kept on raining. A few times it was really cold and a lot of riders were suffering from it."
