Marianne Vos is provisionally satisfied with the recommendation of the Tour de France organization to once again run Le Course presented by Le Tour for the final day of the Tour de France. Any larger woman’s race of France is being discussed according to the Olympic champion Rabo-Liv, but it will not be three weeks long like the men’s edition.
"That's not realistic. Both for the organization and in relation to the existing women's calendar, it is not feasible. It is positive that the ASO has a step put towards women, which is an important signal to other organizers. There is talk of a possible extension of the race by the group who took the initiative for the talks, but that is not concrete yet."
Vos remains hopeful that the Amstel Gold Race and possibly the Eneco Tour’s organizers decide to organize a women race in the future. "That would be very nice. The general public still gives more recognition that we could do very well. We have Leo van Vliet as race director of the Amstel Gold Race who has been already bombarded with plans for the Amstel Gold Race for women, but he is still not convinced."
