Garmin-Sharp team is continously chased by bad luck In his year’s Giro d’Italia, as Fabian Wegmann became the third rider of the American squad forced to withdraw from the event following a crash he suffered yesterday.

Wegmann became one of the victims of opening parts of Giro d’Italia Tuesday’s stage going down on the 23 kilometer mark, but even though the German rider managed to remount his bike, increasing pain eventually forced him to abandon the race.

After the rider was brought to the hospital by an ambulance, Garmin-Sharp released statement about Wegmann’s health condition.

“Fabian Wegmann suffered a complete tear of the hamstrings in his left leg during today's Giro stage. He underwent imaging at a local hospital and team medical staff is currently arranging an orthopaedic surgical follow up for him in Germany, close to his home.”

This way, Wegmann joined a group already consisting of Daniel Martin and Koldo Fernandez as the third Garmin-Sharp rider forced to abandon the Italian grand tour.

In addition to this, Dylan van Baarle hit the beck on his birthday yesterday, but was ready to continue, while Tyler Farrar is the usual suspect of almost every crash taking place in the peloton.
