After his track campaign at the Commonwealth Games, Bradley Wiggins will return to the road on Sunday when he lines up at the Ride London Classic. One day later Geraint Thomas and Edvald Boasson Hagen leads Team Sky in the Eneco Tour.
Team Sky will line up at the RideLondon – Surrey Classic and Eneco Tour with an impressive pair of squads including Commonwealth Games medallists Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas.
Fresh from a silver medal on the track for England in the team pursuit, Wiggins returns to the road and will compete in front of his home fans at the RideLondon – Surrey Classic (August 10).
The Tour de France winner will be joined by three more Brits, with Luke Rowe and Ben Swift looking to help set up a likely sprint finish alongside the returning Ian Stannard, who tackles his first race in Team Sky colours since March following a fractured vertebrae.
Ian Boswell and Nathan Earle complete the six-man squad which will compete on roads immortalised in the London 2012 Olympic Games road race.
Ahead of a return to home roads Wiggins said: "I’m really looking forward to Sunday and to being back on the road with Team Sky. I always enjoy competing in front of home fans and have great memories of riding this route at the Olympics.
"The support we got then was unbelievable, and it was the same again at the Tour of Britain again last year, so this promises to be a really special day."
Team Sky are in action again the next day to kick off the Eneco Tour (August 11-17) with Earle, Rowe and Stannard making the trip to Holland to compete in both races. They will be joined by newly crowned Commonwealth Games road race champion Geraint Thomas.
The Welshman is in fine form following the Tour de France and adds horsepower to a team which is completed by Edvald Boasson Hagen, Christian Knees, Salvatore Puccio and Chris Sutton.
