Cycling can be captivating to watch, especially if you have a "horse" in the race. However, support alone is not enough. While you may be satisfied watching your favorite cyclist win a race, it is possible to make some money through 2016 Olympics betting. Millions of people are eagerly waiting for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics for a variety of reasons.

Athletes know that the Olympic podium is the greatest stage of all and they have trained for years in preparation for the event. Fans from around the world, on the other hand, bought their tickets years before the grounds and facilities were put up. Hoteliers, travel agencies, the Brazilian government and local businesses, on the other hand, are counting the number of days remaining for them to cash in on the eagerly awaited summer event. Another group of people that has been waiting for the Olympics is sports betting enthusiasts.

2016 Olympics Betting

The Olympics boasts over 300 events and tens of thousands of athletes. One of these events is cycling. This includes road racing, track races, mountain biking and BMX events for both men and women. These are simply broad categories of events, which involve cycling.

In the 2016 Olympics, there will be five track-cycling events - keirin, omnium, pursuit team, individual sprint and team sprint. In the track-cycling category, there will be two main events for men - individual road race and the individual time trial. This applies to both men and women. In the mountain bike category, the only event is cross-country. The BMX event is also designed for individuals. There is a separate event for men and women.

If you are a fan of sports betting, what these races mean to you is more opportunities to make money, especially if you love cycling. Some of the odds you can bet on are - who will be the winner of the race? and what will the finishing time for each cyclist be? This is usually an under/over bet so you can use the track record time for that distance to take a well-informed position.

If you are a fan of live betting, you can wait until these races start before placing a bet. While this is a risky maneuver, it will give you a hint on who is likely to win the race and in what time. Since the Olympics is still some months away, you can save up to start betting. If you have not managed to get tickets to Rio, you can enjoy the games from the comfort of your home with your tablet, laptop or smartphone in hand to place the bets.

The beauty of betting on cycling events is that the race boils down to two things - speed and endurance. After all, the cyclists will be using almost the same bikes. This means that predicting the winner is not difficult because each cyclist comes into the race with a personal best time.

By doing further research on performance in previous events and the training schedules of the cyclists, you can easily determine who has the best chance of winning the race or the time of any one cyclist in the race. As Rio 2016 beckons, do not miss the opportunity to make money through betting.
