The mythical Alto de L'Angliru will be back inthe Vuelta a Espana, according to La Voz de Asturias. Although the ascent has only been climbed six times, it is one of the most feared mountains in Europe.
It seems almost certain that Angliru will be back. According to the local paper, the Mayor of Riosa has confirmed the news. The first time the climb was included in the Vuelta was in 1999 when José Maria Jiménez won. Kenny Elissonde was the last winner in 2013. In between, Gilberto Simoni (2000), Roberto Heras (2002) and Alberto Contador (2008) have also taken victory. In 2011, Juan José Cobo laid the foundations for his overall victory by winning here.
The official presentation of the Vuelta course will be held in Madrid on January 12, 2017.
