Who will succeed Daniel Teklehaimanot as the best African rider of the year?
Having won the title in 2015, mainly because of his polka dot jersey at the Critérium du Dauphiné and his stint in the lead of the mountains classification in the Tour de France, the rider of the Dimension Data team is one of the candidates to succeed himself. However, he is certainly not the favorite. Instead, that honour goes to Louis Meintjes, the first African to finish in the top 10 of the Tour de France with a ninth place finish. The South African, already honored in 2013, was also seventh in the Olympic Games and eighth at the Criterium du Dauphine.
The results will be announced on December 21. Below is the list of nominated riders.
