On the eve of the start of the Tour of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, a new continental team, Sharjah Cycling Team, was presented. The team was born to compete in the race and will continue to exist at least during the 2016 season.

The confirmed names are the three riders with the name Al-Nasr: Mohammad Yusif Mirza, the country's number one rider, winner of UCI races like the Tour of Al Zubarah in Qatar; Mirza Mohammad Badr, the older brother of Yusif, and Ahmed Al-Mansoori Youcef. They are joined by Algerians Abdelbasset Hanachi (GS Pétrolier) and Abderrahmane Mansouri (VC Sovac), Egyptian Islam Shawky, Qatari Ahmed Al Bourdainy and Belgian Gorik Gardeyn (Veranclassic-Ekoi) who previously rode for Lotto and Vacansoleil.
The team aims to promote the emirate of Shajah and its capital of the same name, the third largest city of the country behind Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
