Today Vuelta a España is heading to the Basque Country. Will the break already be formed during the first uphill kilometres or will it be on the flat roads afterwards? Later there are four official climbs on the route. The Alto El Vivero will to be covered twice. This climb is 4.2 kilometres long and has an average gradient of 8.5%. Afterwards there is a descent of 13 kilometres towards the finish.
Adam Hansen crashed during Monday’s stage. How is he doing now? Can we expect the Aussie in the break today?
“I was involved in a mass pile-up at the start of the stage on Monday," he siad. "My shoulder was hurt the most, but it has improved a lot the last few days. Our physio Bart keeps me in one piece. I have stitches in my lower lip as it kept bleeding throughout the whole stage. I don’t know what I can expect for myself today. My shoulder is still not 100% and I must see how the stage develops. So far it seems that anything is possible at this Vuelta, the escapees definitely stand a chance here. I’ll see how I feel during the stage. You never know where you might end up.”
