After he was told that he wouldn't be part of the new Garmin-Cannondale merger, Johan Vansummeren saw his career come under threat. Now Ag2r have confirmed the rumours that they have signed the 2011 Paris-Roubaix champion.
Johan Vansummeren has signed a two-year contract with the Pro Cycling Team Ag2r La Mondiale. The winner of the 2011 Paris-Roubaix is 33 years old and is set to play a key role in the coblled classics alongside Sebastien Turgot and Damien Gaudin.
“Johan is a rider known for his qualities as a teammate," manager Vincent Lavenu said. "Being a hard worker, he is able to shine in all kind of races, both on cobbles and in hilly races. His “warrior” character will be invaluable to the team on many occasions."
