Ag2r have announced that they have signed climber Alexandre Geniez (FDJ) on a two-year contract.
"I needed a new challenge and I am pleased to join the team AG2R La Mondiale," he said. "I like this offensive mindset and this way of rriding aggressiveky as we have seen in the last Tour de France. My role will be to support Romain (Bardet) in the mountains at the grand tours but I know I can search for my own luck in some events."
Geniez has won a stage at the 2013 Vuelta a Espana and finished 9th in last year's Giro.
"Alexander has several roles in our team. He can be a good teammate and in some stage races he can be a co-leader. We have seen that he is a complete rider with beautiful TT skills. At 28, he is now mature," manager Vincent Lavenu said.
AG2R LA MONDIALE Pro Cycling Team has also recruited Rudy Barbier (23, Roubaix Lille Métropole), Oliver Naesen (25, IAM Cycling), Stijn Vandenbergh (32, Etixx Quick step), Mathias Frank (29, IAM Cycling), Sondre Holst Enger (22, IAM Cycling) and Clément Chevrier (24, IAM Cycling).
Samuel Dumoulin, Mikaël Cherel, Hubert Dupont, Axel Domont and Jan Bakelants have extended their contracts with AG2R LA MONDIALE Pro Cycling Team for two more years.
