Organisers of the 2015 Vuelta Mexico announced this last days that the 2015 edition will not take place. Bad new for Airgas Safeway and Chris Horner who wanted to shine on this race. Chris Johnson, the team general manager, explained that he was disappointed by the situation.
"It's really unfortunate," he said according to Cycingnews. "Going down to Mexico would have been great to get some racing in the guys' legs. But we're moving on to the next race. We're not angry or anything. We understand."
He added that he announced this bad new at every rider by phone: "I called everyone on Thursday mid-day and asked them if they wanted to go to Chico in less than 24 hours. Connor [McCutcheon] is up in Bend, Oregon, so I was hoping him and Chris could come down together. But Chris has four children, so it's a little bit more difficult to just leave all of the sudden, and he just wasn't able to arrange it."
"We have a young team and just getting out there and racing is important to these guys right now," he said. "They're eager to go, but our first big goal of the season will be Redlands."
