Slightly underrated by the cycling audience but certainly not by rivals in the peloton, Michael Albasini is yet to kick-off his 2015 season. Known for having nearly unmatchable killer's instinct, the Orica-GreenEDGE stage hunter shared his impressions about a new team-mate, talented Dane Magnus Cort in an exclusive interview for Feltet.dk.
Albasini will line-up at the start of the Paris-Nice on March 8 as his late season debut, but has already had an opportunity to participate in Orica-GreenEDGE training camps and meet his new team-mates, including Cort.
"I have participated in two training camps together with Magnus, and I have even shared a room with him on altitude training camp in South Africa," Albasini explained in an interview for Feltet.dk.
The 34-year-old cyclist describes the 22-year-old Dane as "a quiet guy who is very focused on training."
22-year old Dane, who signed with the Australian outfit last October, is regarded by his countrymen as even more talented than quickly improving Michael Valgren riding for Tinkoff-Saxo. An impression which Cort made on Albasini and fellow Orica-GreenEDGE team-mates suggests that these kind of oppinions weren't exaggerated.
„He has really impressed me,” admitted the Swiss rider. „The workload during those training camps was tremendous and yet he never missed a single interval.”
Many Danish talents lost their shine shortly after entering WorldTour ranks and never lived up to huge expectations, but according to the 34-year old Swiss it shouldn't be a case for Cort
„He recovers quickly which suggests that he has a really good engine. I'm quite sure that we are going to see many of his great performances,” he concluded.
