In two weeks the former Garmin-rider, Alex Rasmussen, is free to ride again and right now he is on the hunt for a team.
”I am definitely ready to get going; I just need to find a team to ride for. I’m still counting on Garmin but I haven’t signed any contract yet,” the Danish rider says in an interview with CyclingQuotes.com adding that he hopes that everything is settled within a week or two so he will be able to focus entirely on riding his bike.
According to Alex Rasmussen he is also in talks with another ProTeam, Movistar.
”I don’t know where it ends, since it is my manager who is in charge. The most important thing for me is to find a team and to get a race number on my jersey. So, I am ready to jump on the first train accepting the first and best offer,” he says.
Lack of race legs
During the last couple of months Alex Rasmussen has followed a training programme, so he is not nervous that he is not ready to restart his career, although he knows that the comeback means pain.
”I have trained hard, but off course, there is no doubt that I lack race form. And therefore, it will be hard at the beginning, since I haven’t raced for a long time, but I’m prepared to face that.”
I things go as he plans the Danish rider hopes to ride his favourite race, Paris-Roubaix.
”Paris-Roubaix is still the main objective for me. I love that race. It’s my favourite race of all the spring classics. I don’t know if I will be able to race it this year, since I have no possibility to show anything before the race. Off course it would be easiest to get to race Paris-Roubaix if I end up at Movistar, but I felt really good at Garmin, and they have a strong team for the classics. It makes the most fun to ride for a team that aims for that kind of races,” he adds.
