In the same town of Civitanova Marche from which they will start the tenth stage of the Giro d'Italia, Movistar Team enjoys a well-deserved rest after one of the hardest starts to a grand tour in recent years.
A stage win with Beñat intxausti in Campitello Matese, a second place (Juanjo Lobato, in Fiuggi) and involvement in all relevant phases - moste recently with Jesus Herrada who took a nice 5th place yesterday in San Giorgio del Sannio -the team goes into the next part of the Corsa Rosa with two riders in the overall top 10: Andrey Amador in 10th and Giovanni Visconti in 7th.
"We are all doing our best. We have a stage win , Juanjo was very close and the next stages suit him well. Every day we are present in breaks like when Visconti and Ruben Fernandez escaped in La Spezia and Jesus attacked yesterday. I think we can do a great Giro," Amador saud. "We have not had any really quiet day; it has been a very hard race."
Amador has bounced back in the best possible way after his crash in the E3 Harelbeke which him to miss the Northern classics at a time when he was in a "great moment. I would have been able to achieve very good results there, I had never felt this good and left with frustration. Luckily, the injury has not completely destroyed my Giro and I have demonstrated that I have a good level.
"We do not have leader like Nairo or Alejandro, but we have a good team. I am confident and have lost a lot of weight. I have been consistent every day and I have seen that i can be there."
Amador makes it clear that the fundamental objective "is to search for stages and to work" with the team, but he will fight to keep his current position. "I'm tenth. The flat stages are not bad and then we have a long time trial where I will try to be among the best. I'm not afraid at all, but I have never been in this situation. I have doubts about the high mountains. I am not a climber, my body is different and the mountains will be very complicated. But I approach them with enthusiasm and desire. I will give 100% and I will be happy with the outcome."
