Andrey Amador was in a good position to contend for a spot on the Giro d'Italia podium but yesterday he had a bad day and now needs to gain more than 3 minutes on Mikel Landa if he wants to be in the top 3 in Milan.
"The truth is that it was not my best day. It was very hot and very demanding and I could not get a good result", he wrote on his website. "I was under the illusion that I could finish on the podium but I knew that Aru had rediscovered his best level and it would be difficult, and so it turned out. I think I have also paid for some effort of the previous days.
"Now I just think about my recovery and wait to see what options I have. Tomorrow we will se what happens."
