Despite winning last weekend's World Cup race in Koksijde, Wout van Aert won't try to make it two in a row. The Belgian has decided to skip Saturday's race in Milton Keynes.
Talented Wout van Aert has decided to skip the Saturday's World Cup race in Milton Keynes. The Vastgoedservice-Golden Palace rider tries not to have an overloaded schedule and will focus fully on Sunday's race in Hamme-Zogge.
Last Saturday, Wout van Aert won the elite World Cup race in Koksijde and last Sundat he was the best U23 rider in the Superprestige race in Spa-Francorchamps.
In order not to make his schedule too heavy, he will only do one race this weekend.
"He focuses fully on the BPost Bank Trophy round in Hamme-Zogge on Sunday," Belgian national coach Rudy De Bie told Sporza.
"I think it's very wise of Wout to make a good planning. Last weekend was already heavy and the next few weeks promise to be difficult," said De Bie.
Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel has also decided to skip the race in Milton Keynes. In the absence of van Aert, 13 Belgians - Jens Adams, Bart and Jim Aernouts, Toon Aerts, Tom Meeusen, Tim Merlier, Sven Nys, Kevin Pauwels, Rob Peeters, Laurens Sweeck, Klaas Vantornout, Gianni Vermeersch and Bart Wellens - will be at the start in the British race.
