After UCI has announced that Fabio Taborre has tested positive in an out-of-competition control, Androni-Sidermec manager Gianni Savio has issued the following statement. The team faces a suspension of 45 days as this is the second adverse analytical finding for the team this year after Davide Appollonio tested positive for EPO.
"If the counter analysis confirms the positive result, another stupid criminal has committed a crime that seriously damages our team. We will sue Fabio Taborre who was found positive to FG-4592 during a check on June 16, as we have just been informed by UCI. Following the new UCI rules and being part of MPCC, we will suspend our activity for the time provided for by the sanction.
"Subject to confirmation of the positivity by the counter-analysis, we will sue Davide Appollonio and Fabio Taborre as provided for by the sanitary regulations of the team signed by all the riders in front of Notary Marco Marvasio.
"We have fought against doping with all our strength and zero tolerance. We have held seminars for the riders with Attorney Giuseppe Napoleone and set a tough penalty. We thought that would be a sufficient deterrent but unluckily the reality seems to be different.
"We have done everything possible and we have never put our riders under pressure, we have simply required commitment, reliability and loyalty. We are deeply disheartened but we will not stop fighting."
