It came as a huge surprise, that Ag2r-La Mondiale were the only World Tour team to express some interest in signing Carlos Betancur after he has dominated the Italian one-day races in the Acqua & Sapone Pro Continental outfit. As the experiment turned out to be an extremely successful one and there is a lot more expected to come from the 24-year old punchy climber, the French team decided not to change a winning formula and turned their sights into just another Betancur’s promising countryman.
As it was reported by Biciciclismo, French World Tour team expressed interest for the 18-year old Eduardo Estrada, who already has impressive records from track racing highlighted by five gold medals from Pan American Games claimed in his age category.
According to Biciciclismo, Estrada is first expected to join the Chambéry Cyclisme Formation, which is the development unit of Ag2r-La Mondiale, where he will be provided with an opportunity to adapt to the very different circumstances surrounding racing and living in Europe before he will kick-off his career as a professional cyclist in the ranks of the World Tour squad.
