A few days ago it was announced that the Grand Départ of the Tour de France will be held in Dusseldorf in 2017. That opens the door for more stages in Germany. According to a report by hessenschau.de, a candidate for this is the Hessian city of Bad Homburg.
Already half a year ago the city which organizes the Kurpark every year, sent an application to organizers ASO. "We still have great interest. The city has the desire," said Councillor Dieter Kraft.
The Tour organizers have not yet made a clear response but after the Dusseldorf announcement the hope that Bad Homburg will again host a stage has grown. In 1980 a stage of the French race travelled from Frankfurt to the Germn city.
According to Kraft, the costs would amount to about 300,000 euros. "We want to cover everything with sponsors. And we are convinced that we willl succeed," he explained.
