A month after his win in La Drome Classic, Samuel Dumoulin was close to another win in a big French race when he won the bunch sprint for third in Paris-Camembert.
"In the end, Cofidis rode for Nacer Bouhanni, Team Europcar were also well-placed," he told Directvelo. "When we caught the chasers, I thought we would sprint for the win. In fact, it was at the flamme rouge that I realized that there were still two riders in front. I still focused on the sprint and I did well.
"It's a positive day. FDJ did a beautiful race. They went, they almost got Olivier Le Gac in the final breakaway as a third rider. He was dropped close to the top of the climb. I took it easy as we had Bakelants in the group. I did not have the legs to be at the front.
"I am happy to finish third. It's a great day for AG2R La Mondiale, there is nothing to regret. We were only five riders at the start. Patrick Gretsch and Maxime Daniel helped me much. Christophe Riblon is still not at his best and he still had the breakaway of Route Adélie in the legs."
