For the second time in a row Davide Cimolai was in the top ten of the Tour de France 2015. The Italian rider from Lampre-Merida finished 8th on a sunny day in the 6th stage.

The Cote d'Ingouville  was the key point of the race 1500mt from the finish: Cimolai succeded in approaching the climb in the front positions and he made an interesting progression on the left side of the road, avoiding the late crash by a few centimeters.

After the climb, the legs of many of the best riders and Cimolai were empty and this gave Stybar the opportunity to counter-attack and reach the finish for a solo victory. Lampre-Merida’s sprinter was 8th.

For Rui Costa, today's stage was not complicated and he avoided stress as he recovers from his injuries.

"The finale was very demanding, the hill and the following sector to the finish line stole all my energy,” Cimolai explained. “I'm satisfied with how I approached the climb and how I succeeded in having a good position in the group; then, I had to slow down a little bit when Martin crashed, but I could be in the front group at the end of the climb. In that moment, I realized that both me and my rivals were empty but Stybar was great in attacking and he deserved the victory. I was 8th, my target was a better result.”
