Quiet, hard-working, reliable – that’s how you canbest describe the work of Laurent Didier (Trek Segafredo). For years, the Luxembourger has been one of the loyal domestiques in the peloton, but here and there he has achieved his own results.
That was also the case in the 2016 season when he finished 10th in the challenging Tour of Utah (2.HC) after finishing two stages in the top 10. "I'm quite satisfied with my season," Didier told radsport-news.com.
With the Giro d`Italia and the Vuelta a Espana, the 32-year-old did two grand tours for the first time and he finished both. "At the beginning, I did not have good legs at the Giro, but that got better and better," said Didier who took a racing break of two months after the Italian race to prepare for the Vuelta.
In 2017, Didier will be in his fourth season at Trek-Segafredo after he had spent two years with the predecessors Radioshack and Leopard. "Of course the image of our team will change with the new signings. But to my role will probably not change because I'll still work for our captains," said Didier who will be ready to support John Degenkolb and Alberto Contador.
"My main goal is to continue to help the team. That is the most important,” underlined Didier who does not rule out a chance to be in front in stage races. "Then there is the odd day when you have to try to go for the victory if a break stay away.”
